AVENGERS ASSEMBLE

I had the incredible opportunity to work on Avengers Campus  at Disney California Adventure Park as part of my second internship at Walt Disney Imagineering. Alongside a talented team, I contributed to various environmental designs, propping graphics, and themed signage. If you check out the opening day video from Good Morning America below, you might just spot some familiar work that I had the privilege to be a part of.

Doctor Strange's Ancient Sanctum

Warped Floor Illusion

Using a pre-conceived design concept, I crafted a captivating floor illusion solely using tiles and grout lines. By strategically positioning a 1:50 scale model of the floor tile pattern and capturing a perspective image in 3D software, I was able to create the impression of a portal or wormhole beneath guests' feet. To achieve the desired effect, the image was warped and then flattened back to the intended dimensions. Once approved, I printed a 1:1 scale model for testing. Upon successful results, I proceeded to create the final production art, adhering to vendor requirements for installation. The end result is a mesmerizing photo-op that delights thousands of guests each day.

WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure

Propping & Placemaking

At WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure, an innovative and immersive attraction, guests can experience the thrill of web-slinging like Spider-Man himself. During my involvement in this project, I collaborated closely with the props department, focusing on designing graphics that were in line with the theme of both the old Stark Motors warehouse and the new WEB headquarters. This involved creating various elements such as oil barrels, vintage logos, stickers, themed signage, and more. As my debut attraction, I take great pride in the work my team and I accomplished in bringing this exciting experience to life.

Pym Test Kitchen & Pym Tasting Lab

Themed Graphics & Food Labels

At Pym Test Kitchen, a dining establishment inspired by Ant-Man and The Wasp, guests can indulge in oversized meals and miniature treats created using the Pym Particles from the movie. My role in this project encompassed designing supplementary graphics that complemented guests' meals, as well as creating the home screen for the Coca-Cola Freestyle machines, the beer taps at the bar, and the oversized batteries that powered the POS systems. Additionally, I worked on mock-up concepts requested by our creative director, placed logos on 3D models, and produced production art for vendors. One unique aspect was using my own handwriting to emulate that of Scott Lang, which added a personal touch to the project.

Avengers Campus

Trash Can Designs

s someone who has always admired the meticulous attention to detail in Disney parks, I have a particular fondness for even the smallest elements, such as their thoughtfully designed trash cans. Since aspiring to be an imagineer, I've dreamt of creating themed trash cans for Disney. With the opportunity to work on Avengers Campus, I was able to turn that dream into a reality. I had the privilege of designing three distinct trash can designs that perfectly complement the themes of Worldwide Engineering Brigade (WEB), Pym Test Kitchen, and the overall Avengers Campus ambiance.
